No Fear Finances Helps Minority and Women-Owned Small Businesses

Our April Tech Queen On The Scene is Kara Halfaker, the founding executive director of No Fear Finances Empowerment Center (NFFEC). Kara enjoys helping business owners face their financial challenges head-on and guiding them to not only understand their financial data but also to utilize this knowledge to make strategic decisions that propel their businesses forward.


Her organization No Fear Finances Empowerment Center, currently works with businesses in Alabama and is dedicated to serving minority and women-owned small business owners.



As the founding executive director of No Fear Finances Empowerment Center (NFFEC), Kara is a graduate of the University of Florida (BS in Accounting) and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (MS in Accounting). Kara also holds the following designations: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Enrolled Agent (EA), Quickbooks ProAdvisor, & Project Management

Professional (PMP).


Prior to starting NFFEC, Kara served as a program officer for a community development financial institution (CDFI) serving minority

and women-owned businesses. She also previously taught in Birmingham City Schools and was an accountant for a Big Four accounting firm. In 2023, Kara was recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as a 2023 NextGen BHM in Money recipient. Click below to learn more on her website and connect.
